The narrator’s tone and tempo perfectly matched the emotion of each scene to deliver a really good performance that made for an easy and enjoyable listen. This was only furthered by the talented narration. The intimate scenes felt like an extension of the story, sort a way to solidify Jace and Sol’s connection rather than gratuitous or simply there for the steam factor. I always enjoy when the physical chemistry is matched by the emotional chemistry, and this is something Con Riley excels at in general, but it really struck me again while listening to Sol. Sol masters all those components, capturing such emotion and longing between Sol and Jace. I love seeing characters reconnect, grow, and achieve their happily-ever-after. Second chance romances have that spark that really draws me to them. Honestly, the entire Learning to Love series holds a special place in my heart and is one I’m happy to revisit whenever, but there’s something extra special about this title in particular. I almost forgot just how much I like Sol.

The way she could make people feel better with just words alone. The way she knew what plants healed what what illnesses. The way she knew how to find good, clean water in the Forest springs. She had powers that the villagers depended upon. It didn't stop her from filling her bags with herbs. But that didn't stop her from sneaking into it. The Forest was out of bounds to the people. She knew the Forest like a mother, and was familiar with it like a homeland. She lived in the edges of the Forest and in the evenings she would sneak into it and find whatever truths were hidden inside. One day there was a young woman with magic in her fingers and she looked to the Forest with sparks in her hair. The Beacon Practice facilitator Paul Neveldsen suggested that the one-lesson activity developed by Dorothy Hutton as part of the Beacon Practice Phase 3 project could be a good starting point. The unit developed also needed to address the limited experience students had with food preparation. When the year 1–2 students were timetabled into the foods room, Sally Laing and Marion Richardson planned to use this time to introduce students to the technology curriculum, focusing on the characteristics of technology component at level 1 and introducing the technological practice strand at the same level. some understandings about technological products.Īll junior school students at Coastal Taranaki School Okato are timetabled to come to the specialist classrooms once a week for seven weeks every term.some understanding of the first indicator in the characteristics of technology component: identify that technology helps to create the made world.understandings at level 1 for technological practice.Sally and Marion's food technology unit supported their year 1–2 students to develop: Sula also watched her mother die in flames, conscious only that she wanted the dying dance to go on. It was Eva who had long ago pondered the meaning of love when she used her only food (lard scrapings) to cure her baby boy's bellyache yet when her son was a man, regressing to the womb of drugs, she burnt him to death. Intemperate, restless, Sula had some of the arrogance of her one-legged grandmother Eva. And Sula, who will die, not like "other colored girls" rotting like a stump, but falling "like a redwood." For she is the product of a "household of throbbing disorder" and had learned isolation and the "meaningless of responsibility" early when she accidentally caused the drowning of a little boy. There is mad Shadrach, victim of World War I, who defies death's capricious obscenity by ringing his bell for National Suicide Day every year-and one year he has some takers. But in the closed black community of the high hill overlooking a white Ohio town, there are two who stand outside the defensive webs of familial interdependence. In a neighborhood where pain-"adult pain that rested somewhere under the eyelids"-is as pervasively omnipresent as the loveliness of May's green shade trees, death and its omens can be accepted as another face of God. Marigold adores brilliant, articulate Tobias, Wobbly's adopted brother, discovered and befriended by Wobbly when they are boys, the orphaned Tobias having survived for two years wandering a nearby wood with a pack of dogs. Good-natured Wobbly, a young man residing in a Victorian English village, loves Prunella, a London socialite whom he meets during her visit with Wobbly's cousin, Marigold. It may appeal to readers interested in such classic writers as Charles Dickens, Anthony Trollope, or Jane Austen. It challenges traditional concepts of morality while ultimately asserting the intrinsic value of marital, familial, and platonic bonds. Jane Lowy's literary novel Wobbly Barstool is a Victorian-era tale of friendship and love, whose protagonists display anachronistically progressive mind-sets in a Dickensian milieu of drama and playfulness. |
